Why Lanna Wela

What Sets Our Work Apart

Plainly Explained Work

We describe what we find and what we plan to do in straightforward language. No unnecessary jargon, no surprises — just clear communication at every stage.

Measured Pace, Careful Hands

Fine watchwork cannot be rushed. Each piece receives the time it needs, and owners receive gentle progress notes so they are never left wondering.

Service Warranty Included

Movement services carry a warranty on the work carried out. If something needs revisiting within that period, we attend to it without question.

Agreed Costs Beforehand

We confirm what the work will involve and what it will cost before anything begins. The decision always rests comfortably with the owner.

Respect for Original Character

We work to preserve what makes a watch itself — its patina, its original parts, its particular history — rather than erasing those qualities in pursuit of a showroom finish.

Questions Always Welcome

We are happy to talk through what we are doing, why, and what to expect at every step. You are welcome to ask as many questions as you like.

Has Your Watch Been Sitting Unserviced?

A quiet conversation costs nothing. Bring your timepiece in, or drop us a message, and we will take a look and let you know what we think — with no obligation to proceed.

Common Questions

Things People Often Ask

How long does a movement service usually take? +
A standard movement service is typically ready within two to four weeks. Vintage restorations take longer, depending on what the movement needs and how readily parts can be sourced. We share a realistic timeframe when we assess the piece, and keep you informed if anything changes.
Do I need to make an appointment to bring my watch in? +
Walk-ins are welcome during opening hours, though an appointment means we can give you our full attention from the moment you arrive. You are welcome to call ahead or send a message to choose a time that suits you.
Will you be able to work on an older or less common movement? +
We work on a range of mechanical movements, including older calibres and watches from smaller or discontinued manufacturers. If a piece falls outside what we can take on well, we will say so honestly and, where possible, suggest where else it might be looked at.
How are the prices structured — is there anything additional to consider? +
The listed prices cover the core service. If we find during assessment that additional parts are needed, we discuss this with you and agree on costs before proceeding. Nothing is added without your knowledge and approval.
Is it worth restoring a vintage watch if it has sentimental rather than monetary value? +
Absolutely. Many of the pieces we care for are family watches, travel companions, or simply timepieces with a personal story. Their value to the owner is entirely their own, and we approach each one with the same attentiveness regardless of make or market price.
What happens to my watch's original patina during restoration? +
We consider the preservation of original surfaces a central part of careful restoration work. We discuss with each owner how they would like the piece to look, and we never polish, refinish, or alter original surfaces without explicit agreement.
